The Salt Trail: A Mark Waters Film
“The education you receive from traveling is a constant educational system where the class doesn’t start at 3 in the afternoon, or 9 o’ clock in the morning, the class starts the second you leave the ground.” -Kristyan “Kish” Stjerne
Oftentimes it appears as if a large part of the human race is drowning in the murky waters of unfulfilling work, consumption, entertainment and simply paying the bills.
As surfers we tend to look at life through a unique set of eyes, feeling unsatisfied by the status quo of the times our hearts can’t help but yearn for the freedom we feel while in the ocean. We want to have access to this freedom and bliss all the time, but most of us must learn to walk a tightrope dance between both worlds, skillfully creating a balance between the realities of ordinary life and that of our oceanic dreamworld.
Others throw caution to the wind and travel the globe on a perpetual quest, ever seeking for more days spent in the water surfing perfect waves. Some may see this as escapism, but for many surfers this is the truest form of living. Taking the chance to experience the blessings of life as a wondrous classroom, not as a sad game of acquirement and materialism.
“The Salt Trail” is a visual story about following our dreams and heeding the call of the heart. Making course for parts unknown not only to find perfect waves, but to open one’s self up to the entire experience of travel and the personal growth that comes from each new voyage.
